Staccato Cliffs is a cliffside town located in southeastern Urobos. The community is carved into the rock itself, and is home to the Staccato Gym, the fifth gym of the Urobos League.

Izzie and Rachel, the sibling Gym Leader duo, specialize in Fighting-type and Psychic-type Pokémon respectively.

To the east of the town is Route 14, and to the west are the Staccato Badlands and the Desert Cave.

Trivia[]

  • The design of Staccato Cliffs is based on the cliff dwellings of the Pueblo peoples.

Name origin[]

  • Staccato is form of musical articulation that signifies notes of a shortened duration. Notes played staccato are usually separated from the note that follows; in Italian, staccato means "detached". This follows the theme of locations in Urobos being named with musical terms, and may relate to how the town's most prominent residents, Izzie and Rachel, are so separate from one another in terms of personality, despite the fact that they are sisters. Also, the sound of staccato notes is sometimes visually represented by stairs, steps, and ladders, which are prominent features of the town.
