Seeing Yacuma's lights floating in the deep is a bad omen for sailors. Ships that pollute the sea are unlikely to escape its wrath and return to shore.

Trivia [ ]
Design origin [ ]
Early concept art for Yacuma.
Yacuma is based on a moon jellyfish . It may also draw inspiration from La Llorona , a folklore character who drowned her own children, and is meant to represent a more animal-like being than its two counterparts .
Name origin [ ]
Yacuma's name is a contraction of yacu-mama (a mythical sea monster that inhabits the Amazon River). In addition, all members of the Spirit trio have names that end with -ma , which comes from mama (common in the names of nature deities and goddesses).
